GEARING UP FOR 2009
We have a great field of Republican candidates running for statewide office in 2009. Attorney General Bob McDonnell is running unopposed for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, enabling him to make an early start with a united party behind him. Incumbent Lieutentant Governor Bill Bolling is running for re-election, with former 9th district Congressional candidate Patrick Muldoon also having announced on December 8. There's a three way race for the Attorney General nod, with former US Attorney John Brownlee, State Senator Ken Cuccinelli, and former Arlington School Board member Dave Foster all seeking the nomination.

To be a delegate, you must be elected at the County Mass meeting. Any Republican supporter may vote at the mass meeting provided they are prepared to sign a pledge that they will support the party's nominees in November.

Here in the 99th legislative district (King George, Westmoreland, Northumberland, Lancaster, Richmond and part of Caroline) (see map) incumbent Democrat Albert Pollard is expected to seek reelection. Although Pollard's managed to craft a moderate image, "Al-Po's" voting record tilts decidedly to the left (see report). King George Republicans will be mounting a major effort to replace him with a Republican more philosophically in sync with the district!

	VOLUNTEER to help in local elections -- make phone calls, register voters, work at the polls, display a yard sign in your yard -- there's numerous ways you can help get out the GOP vote in King George. (visit our "get involved" section for more info)
	JOIN US! -- Become a member of the King George Republican County Committee -- and have an official say in local party issues. (see "about us" section)
	CONTRIBUTE -- if you're a Republican donor who contributes to GOP candidates nationally and statewide and to the RNC, please consider earmarking part of your contributions to your local party. and help build Republican victory from the grassroots, precinct level. (online donations coming soon)
	VOTE -- visit the "voter info" section to learn how to register, get an absentee ballot and find out where your polling station is.

DEMOCRAT WATCH: SENATOR FOR SALE -- President-elect Obama's political crony Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested by FBI Tuesday after being caught trying to SELL the appointment to fill the remainder of Obama's Senate term to the highest bidder. (more on news page) While the President-elect has disassociated himself from Blagojevich's actions, this scenario is nonetheless characteristic of the corrupt Chicago Democrat political machine that produced Obama. Like Obama, Blagojevich is a political crony of jailed businessman Tony Rezko and has also benefitted considerably from Rezko's largesse.  Obama and Blagojevich served as chairman of one another's campaigns in Illinois.
